Otto is a Graphic Artist who practices books arts, screen printing and illustration.
Between 1991 and 2023 he illustrated for international newspapers and magazines like The Guardian, Independent, Libération, Le Monde, New York Times, The Economist amongst many others. He was one of a handful of illustrators introducing the now ubiquitous modern editorial style.
In 1996 Otto began pioneering screen printing artists’ books, and has made around 100 titles to date. He is one of very few artists who regularly publish screen printed books, which he presents at international artists’ bookfairs as well as galleries and shops. His French language titles are distributed by Serendip, Paris.
His books contain his own visual narratives, often accompanied by text. Influenced by 1920s Constructivism, Otto integrates imagery, design, and typography. He also shapes original folds and bindings to create captivating stories.
His varied themes include science fiction, geometric formalism, visual poetry, instruction manuals, architecture, and socio-political commentary. His latest project is the design of a large-format receipt, which explains in detail the story of its creation.
From 2010 till 2019 Otto ran MSP, a screen printing workshop near Bath in the UK. Since 2020 he creates and publishes books at Salamandre in France and is now producing artists' books professionally. He publishes his books in English, French and German.
In 2019 he won the V O StompsFörderpreis of the Gutenberg Museum at the Mainzer Minipressenmesse. Regular participation at Printed Matter's New York and LA Art Book Fair as well as recent fairs in Buenos Aires, San Francisco, Hong Kong, Singapore, Tokyo.

Ses livres proposent ses propres récits visuels, souvent accompagnés de textes. Influencé par le constructivisme des années 1920, Otto intègre images, design et typographie. Il conçoit également des pliages et des reliures originaux pour créer des histoires captivantes.
Ses thèmes sont variés : science-fiction, formalisme géométrique, poésie visuelle, manuels d'instructions, architecture et commentaires sociopolitiques. Son projet le plus récent consiste en la création d'un ticket de caisse grand format détaillant l'histoire de sa propre conception.
De 2010 à 2019, Otto a dirigé MSP, un atelier de sérigraphie près de Bath, au Royaume-Uni.
